Grade 8 students from schools across the City of Kawartha Lakes participated in the Cardboard Boat Race today at the Lindsay Recreation Complex, which explored many of the skills required to be successful in the skilled trades.
Each school sent one team of four students to construct a cardboard boat in two hours with: 2- 4’x8′ sheets of cardboard, 1 roll of duct tape, 1 small can of Lafarge non-toxic contact cement, and 1 paint brush to apply the cement. Each group was judged on design, construction, speed, buoyancy, teamwork, and team spirit.
Congratulation to everyone who participated! The Muskoka Cardboard Boat Race will be held at the Bracebridge Sportsplex on April 28, 2017.
The day was definitely interactive and fun for students, teachers and judges!
